Good afternoon again,

Here my second topic, concerning the President De Luxe Scotch Whisky Special Reserve Years 12 Old bottles I found. MacDonald Greenlees Ltd. Distillers, Leith, Scotland. 75 cl, 40°.
I found a total amount of four bottles, two of them in the original gold boxes, one without any box and the fourth with a white box. The gold boxes also have a glass top.
As for my previous topic, I don't know the exact age of these bottles but they must have been bought well before my birth, and I am 28 at present.

May I ask your help for further information and valuation, please?
Thanks again,

Marco

I believe this brand is owned by Diageo - if so we will be able to have your bottles dated (thanks for the photo). As for a value, you'll need to try McTears.com or Bonhams.com. And, for more information on President Scotch - see below:

President Scotch whisky was first registered in Brazil in 1944, then in Venezuela in 1955; subsequent trademarks for other markets followed in the late 1950s and 1960s, including Hong Kong and Japan. The word 'President' had been trademarked in the United Kingdom in 1906 (not for whisky) but it wasn't assigned to Macdonald Greenlees until 1965. President apparently replaced another Greenlees brand, Supreme Liqueur, which was withdrawn after the Second World War when a general prohibition was imposed on the use of the word 'liqueur' for whiskies following protests from liqueur producers.

President Scotch whisky is sold largely in Central and South America, but you can also find for sale online.

Thanks indeed, Jojo. Very interesting. Yes, it would be historically fascinating to know more about the age of these bottles - unfortunately, these bottles don't show any date.

Best regards,

Marco

Marco, from the design of the labels and the closure being used, these bottles have been dated from the late 1960s or early 1970s. ;)
