hi can anyone tell me how to restore smoke stained labels i have just bought 24 bottles of 1970s malt whiskey which have been standing on a shelf in my local bar most of them are brown with the smoke is there any way to restore them thank you

I don;t know about restoring the labels, I'd be more concerned about the whisky. If it's been standing on a high shelf then the heat will most likely have effected it and possibly made it undrinkable not to mention what the ligts have done to it.
Do you think that, if it's drinkable the bar would've **** it themselves and made a heck of a lot more profit, possibly they're concerned about the quality themselves and just **** it on with a "buyer beware" comment if it is bad.
I've just though it may not even be whisky rather dummies with coloured water in them

hi thanks for your concern the landlord and his wife have been friends with me and my wife for 45 years he has retired he has collected malt whiskey for 50 years i have opened a few of the lesser rare ones and there where good but i have some bottles that not distilled any more and would like to clean up the labels and maybe try to sell a few thank you very much
