I'm seeing the Macgavin's "Master Distillers Collection" SMSW product line newly arrived in my package store. The tasters were out, and they are actually quite good. The highland is the clear winner, but I can't find anything out about this bottling.

Any veterans have some insight on this one?

Cheers!

Hey there Steve - can you check that label again? If so, see if there is an age and/or a distillery name on the label. If so, let me know and we'll see how we can help.

Just bought a bottle myself. It reads "Distilled and bottled by Alexander Macgavin Co., Ltd., Glasgow, Scotland. I bought the Islay type but haven't tried it yet.

I agree that the Macgavin's Highland is the best of the lot. It is very likely that their lowland region whisky is Auchentoshan. I don't have any idea about the Highland distiller but my WAG is Tomatin. Macgavin's Speyside is okay and drinkable (definitely better than Speyburn NAS or Lismore NAS) but unremarkable. I haven't tried their Islay whisky yet. I recommend Macgavin's Highland and Lowland products as good and a bargain.
