Hi there,
So I recently aquired a bottle of Glenfiddich Special Reserve from my Grandfather, and it has no mark of age on it. I don't know when he got it (he died 2 years ago), but I do know it was a retirement gift. Is there a way to find out how old this bottle is? The numbers on the bottom read 2714-25. Any info is appreciated, thanks! :)

Dave T - we found out your bottle was from the early nineties thru to 2000 when Glenfiddich eventually changed over to the twelve year old from their original bottling which had no age statement. The whisky itself was a mixture of 8, 9 and 12 years old and not too shabby. As for value, it's not considered to be worth too much as it was a fairly common bottling. Glenfiddich's advice? "Best consumed with a few good friends." And I might add, I tend to wholeheartedly agee! :D

Glenfiddich started in the 60's with a 12 years old that proved to be quite popular, so much so that they dropped the age to a 10 year old in the 70's, by the late 70's or early 80's the age statement was dropped for about 14 years when they brought back the 12 year old. According to information back then they always had some 12 year old in the bottlings although the balance would be younger i.e. 10 yo or 8 and 9yo.

Hi,

I'm in possession of a bottle glenfiddich pure malt. It says on the bottle that is was bottled 1985, october. It also has a serial number.

Can someone tell me what it's worth nowadays?

It's "Special Old Reserve", 75cl and 43% vol.

Thanks in advance!
