Hi,
I'm new to this forum I recently inherited some old scotch's, I'm not sure If I should drink them as they will be fairly old and would like to get some information on possible ages and values of these old scotches before a pop the seal's incase there valuable.

Scotch No 1: Haig Whisky with oringainl box, bottle is in almost perfect condition with its wire mesh. Some info from the labels - John Haig & co Ltd distillers Markinch, Scotland. Dimple Scots, Old Blended scotch wisky, by appointment. (I will send photos) bottle is rounded triangler with rounded large dimples. Clear bottle lid seems it may have a flip lid under seals.

Scotch No 2: John Dewar and Son with oringinal box "The Victoria Vat" some label info is in good condition , By Appointment, the very finest old scotch whisky, the lable has a punched out numbers 1 37 , made in scotland awarded 50 medals, John Deward and son Perth. The bottle is a brown amber colour.

Any info would be much appreciated. I tried contacting via email to the distillers and had no reply.

Thanks again Daniel

Daniel - let me look into the Haig - as for your Victoria Vat, this was one of Dewar's main deluxe brands from about 1907 onwards. The other deluxe brand was Ne Plus Ultra which was introduced about the same time and first registered as a trademark in 1909. In 1954, Victoria Vat was re-named Ancestor.

Daniel, your bottle of Haig Dimple is believed to be from the 1940s. For a value, contact McTears.com or Bonhams.com Keep us posted!

Daniel - it looks like your Victoria Vat is possibly from the 1920s - 30s.

Hey folks,

Hate to barge in, but I've been trying to find information on a bottle that we found in a barn about a year ago. The lable is gone, but the lid and cap are intact.

It says "John Dewers Limited distillers Perth" On the side of the lid it says "Scotland" along with a statement that says "Federal Laws prohibit sale or re-use of this bottle"

Stamp on the bottle is "NB236" and there is on the lid mentioned "50 Medals".

Wondering if I should enjoy the bottle or keep it for awhile.

Taz - post pix of your bottle. We will see what we can find out. Also, are you in the US?

If you're talking about 12 year old Haig & Haig Pinch in the clear bottle..., not the 15 year old Dimple, then you have one of the finest blended scotch whiskies ever made. Why it was replaced with the 15 year old Dimple is a mystery to me. If anyone knows where I can procure any of the 12 year old, please let me know...thank you.

I also have a clear bottle of the Pinch Scotch 12 year old aged whisky that is unopened. I was wondering what the value of it would be?

Hi there Scott! Victoria Vat is probably quite collectable - you don't see it at auction very often. Although I'm not sure what it's worth, we hear you might be able to get a few hundred pounds for one. Victoria Vat is a deluxe product - kind of the equivalent of Dewar's 12 today, though it generally didn't carry an age statement (sometimes it did in the USA). Try contacting either of these companies: www.mctears.com or www.bonhams.com - both specialize in valuations. Let us know your findings!

Hi Daniel,

Are you looking to sell the bottles? I would be interested in the Dewar's bottle, if so.
