View Full Version : Scotch not **** in the US

I am curious as to why there is certain scotch -both blended and single malt - that is not **** in the United States? For example, why are bottlings only marketed and **** in Asia, but not in the US? What makes these companies think that Americans would not like the same scotch?
Sirius -that's a great question. There are brands targeted to different countries specifically and there are even brand which can only be found in duty-free shops - why? Never for sure for certain, but I'll ask around.

I was hoping that maybe you could get the inside scoop; as to why these scotch whiskies never see the US...

Yesterday, I spoke with the Indian gentleman, who informed me of the illusive Johnnie Walker "Melt", and he said that from his experience the companies-(that own these distillerys)-do not want these products to be in the US. As Jim Murray said-regarding the White Horse 12yr-"Why? Why? Why?" It just does not make sense.
