I am curious as to why there is certain scotch -both blended and single malt - that is not sold in the United States? For example, why are bottlings only marketed and sold in Asia, but not in the US? What makes these companies think that Americans would not like the same scotch?
Sirius -that's a great question. There are brands targeted to different countries specifically and there are even brand which can only be found in duty-free shops - why? Never for sure for certain, but I'll ask around.

Thanks Jojo,
I was hoping that maybe you could get the inside scoop; as to why these scotch whiskies never see the US...

Yesterday, I spoke with the Indian gentleman, who informed me of the illusive Johnnie Walker "Melt", and he said that from his experience the companies-(that own these distillerys)-do not want these products to be in the US. As Jim Murray said-regarding the White Horse 12yr-"Why? Why? Why?" It just does not make sense.
