We're looking into a value for you - in the meantime, please post photos of your Dewar's Ancestor. You'll have to register, otherwise, just send them directly to me - Joanne (at) CCIN.com Please be sure to put Whisky.com in the subject line. Thanks!

I also have a bottle of Dewars Ancestor. The tag over the cap shows NY-I-68. Did you ever find a price?

We need photos! Did you send them? Whisky.com itself does not do valuations, but at times, we are able to find out what they may be worth.

I need to know if your bottle has any numbers on the bottom right hand corner of the label? If not, then how about a date on the reverse side of the label? It looks like your bottle has a modern screw metal cap - and if this is correct, then Dewar's started using these in the late 1950s and early 1960s (replaced the spring metal cap). These are 'rough guidelines. Whisky.com does not provide valuations, therefore, contact one of these companies for this information - Bonhams.com or McTears.com Also, keep in mind they'll need very, very clear photos your any bottle you send to them. Make sure you get one of the closure and also one specifically of the label so that anywhere there's text, it can be read.

The company that started making these long style caps didn't start their process until some time after 1967 so this bottle must be after that, although it could easily have been bottled last year as these caps are still used.

Don't know about the price, but I had an old friend (who is now long since deceased) who had been a Radio Hong Kong news director in the 1960s. He told me that Ancestor was regarded by the old time Brits in HK as being one of the very best blended Scotches- better than Chivas and JW Black by far.
