I really love Scapa 14 year old. Is the new 16 year just the 14 + 2? Or, is it the same or similar to the 14? If this seems like a silly question - my apologies ; ) Can anyone help?
The new Scapa 16yo is not just an additional 2 years maturation - although that does make a difference. The Scapa Distillery has revised their wood policy and fill into first fill bourbon casks. All of their old stock has also been recasked. We learned this means the 16yo has more of a mandarin juiciness to its character – richer than the 14yo which was slightly drier and more heathery. The finish is the same with a beautiful balance between sweetness and a slightly maritime dryness. Hope this helps

What can you tell me about the Scapa 12, I have been in search of the 14 yr, and came across a bottle of the 12? Any thoughts?
