Have only got into Malt's for about a yr now and seems they quite dear thought i would ask some advice from u all..

My taste seems to have decided that the best whiskey i have found so far is 'laphroaig quarter cask' and joint second is 'laphroaig' and 'Ardbeg' 10yr. so my question is what other islay malts would suit me? the reason is every time i go to buy a bottle i so know i'm going to enjoy the above i csnt afford to experiment anymore! and of course im so happy with a bottle of quarter cask i find it hard to try another.

Just to say what i dont like as well , the only bottle of been truly disapointed with was a bottle of 'glen Moray' and since then have kept completely away from speyside offerings.

Anyway thanks to anyone who can enlighten me more about different islay malts, maybe one day will even be able to leave the quarter cask on the shelf!

Other Islay Distilleries -

Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila, Kilchoman, and Lagavulin. Do you ever go to any scotch tastings? If you don't know of any, mention it to the owner of your liquor store - perhaps he / she can steer you in the direction of tasting opportunities.

have you tried this one? It's similiar to laphroaig and you either love it or hate it. Tons of peat - smoky finish.

and, just to let you know - Bunnahabhain is the least peaty of Islay malts - so you probably would not be interested in this one.
