Courtesy of Cutty SarkCUTTY SARK Scots Whisky was created on 20th March 1923 when the partners of wine & spirit merchants Berry Bros. discussed the launch of a new whisky. At the time, the popularity of Scotch Whisky was beginning to grow around the world.

Senior partner Francis Berry had a strong belief in the potential for a new style of whisky and he insisted that only the finest malt whiskies should be selected for the new blend and that the whisky should be naturally light in colour. The partners had invited James McBey, a well known Scottish artist to a luncheon that day to discuss the launch. It was he who suggested the name and designed the label for the new whisky.

Exceptional care is taken throughout the production process. Created by established wine & spirit merchants who believed in quality and innovation, it deliberately challenged existing standards. It has been a successful world class premium brand since launched. Craft, dedication and skill are evident in distilling, maturing and blending. There are no shortcuts to outstanding quality and genuine character. Cutty Sark was the first light coloured whisky of exceptional quality.
Courtesy of Cutty SarkThe Cutty Sark blend is made up of around twenty renowned single whiskies, predominantly from the Speyside region in Scotland, which are blended with high quality grain whiskies. These single malt and single grain whiskies are matured in carefully selected American oak casks. The malts are blended together, as are the grains, before the complete blend is 'married' together for a further six months.

This past week I met two of your very loyal employees while on vacation in the Dominican Republic. They were thorough gentlemen and spoke of your company most highly while educating us on your product.. I was most impressed and hence that is what prompted this e-mail. I have only known of the Cutty Sark product. Not a Scotch drinker myself. They are a credit to your establishment.

I really like the scotch you produce, that's not the problem. I've got a question for your "Genius" in your marketing dept. Do you ever do any research on packaging, like how TALL to make your 3 liter bottle of Cutty Sark. Like maybe "They" could find out the standard height of a kitchen cabinate, find out the height of the tallest shelf, and try NOT to make a bottle that WILL NOT FIT any of the shelves, in anyone's cabinate! Your new bottle is 13 1/8" tall, and 4" of it is totally NECK! That's neck that's empty...nothing in it. Was that to make people think they're getting more, by designing a taller bottle!!?? STUPID! STUPID! The new bottle not does not fit my shelf and guess what...I'm not buy your product just because of the packaging. I buy other products JUST BECAUSE of the packaging not because of the product contents, or the quality or anything else. Now I will by JB scotch because it FITS IN MY SHELF, good luck w your new bottle!

Of the various blended scotch whiskey's I've tried I prefer Cutty Sark although I can't exactly describe why. Lighter, perhaps. I got to this site in trying to determine which single malt contributes most to the Cutty Sark flavor. Maybe it's Glenrothe, I'll have to get a bottle. I've tried Macallan, which is excellent but is different. Maybe I have to run through all the Speyside single malts to find the one I want.

Avid scotch fan here. Love most brands, all price ranges. Cutty Sark was the worst I ever tasted. Strange sharp fruity taste. It distressed me severely because it was the first bottle of alcohol I ever poured down the drain.

I will comment on Cutty Sark Blended Scotch. Though my tastes, like many seasoned scotch connoisseurs lean toward richer full-bodied and peaty products, I find Cutty Sark, and I will echo another critics valid comment, in finding it to be an EXCELLENT blended scotch! Definitely comparing in quality to higher priced scotches... yet truly unique in its, pleasing flavor and complexity, more consistant than any other economical blended scotch I have tried. It definitely DOES NOT taste cheap, unlike most other similarly priced scotches. And, I find it to be the best blended scotch that is not sold with an age claim. I say that because, several other blends that are (more) aged, such as JW Black, Chivas and Dewars 12 Year, are very good, and have the advantage of that aging. I wonder what a 12 year old Cutty Sark product would be like? I don't know if they make such a product...

Cutty Sark is a quality scotch. It compares to higher priced scotches, and it cannot be
denigrated by anyone with an appreciation for fine whiskeys.
Praise Him for giving us Cutty Sark on this earth.

I had the opportunity to taste Cutty Sark Blended Malt Scotch Whisky - at this time it is only available in Atlanta and Denver as well as just 4 countries outside of the USA. It's light, smooth, fresh with subtle hints of coconut. Sweet, and fruity, but not overly so. Dry, long finish. This is my second tasting of this Scotch and I found it to be just as enjoyable as the first.
